History Day- bring in your old photos and other documents to our team of researchers for identification, or to show us what you have. Suitable photos and documents will be used in our city-wide touring display.

New City Hall Clock Delivered  

 

July 29- First Presbyterian Church

Following the worship service (~11:00am) Church Archivist Chuck Flinchbaugh will present a history of the Church (celebrating its 200th year) and bell. Thereafter, the bell will be rung 20 times (one toll per decade) to mark the official birthday of the Church. Refreshments will be served and the public is invited.

September 30- Glens Falls Symphony Orchestra at The First Presbyterian Church featuring Mendelssohn's "Reformation Symphony" and music for organ and orchestra. Bryan Kirk, organist/music director at First Presbyterian at the console and Charles Peltz, conducting. 

 October   2007

 

October 25: The Road to Lake George.  The Chapman Museum traveling exhibit returns along with the historical paintings from the Glens Falls Insurance Company Collection. This celebrates the 250th anniversary of the French & Indian War events scheduled for Fall 2007 as well as the City's upcoming Centennial in 2008.

 

 November   2007

 

November 23- Opening of 2007 DeLong House Holiday Tour sponsored by The Chapman Museum. This exhibit focuses on life in the first decade of the 20th century and runs through January 6, 2008.

The Senior Center is located close to downtown Glens Falls at 380 Glen Street. Come shop and experience Christmas and the beauty of the Sherman House.

Featuring gifts galore, jewelry, baked goods, raffle (A Wings Fall Quilt) and much more.

 

Also available, limited edition of "Cats Meow" rendition of the “Sherman House” home to the Greater Glens Falls Sr. Center. Purchase this wonderful wooden replicas as we celebrate with the Centennial of Glens Falls with one of its oldest homes built in 1844.

The City is holding an Open House at City Hall starting at 9:00pm. There will be artists with wares, music and dancing with DJ Michael Timko; and North Country Arts Center reception on the second floor with live music provided by Kate Blain and Gary Moon- Acoustic Duo and refreshments. There will be displays throughout the building; Gifts and giveaways, including posters and double CD Sets of music through the century will be available. The LARAC Centennial Ornament will be available; woodworkers “Who Sez What” will be on hand with a special Centennial souvenir; The Lions Club will be selling hot chocolate, brownies, cookies and hot dogs. Cooper's Cave will be on hand with Centennial Sasparilla and other items. At 11:30, the ceremony moves to outside City Hall for inauguration and dedication of the new clock at Midnight. Fireworks follow immediately after in Centennial Circle.


Several businesses are planning on being open at various times. The Wood and The Queensbury have a joint dinner/ Laura Roth concert package; The Civic Center will have open skating 5:30-7:00;

 

The YMCA will have family programs 5:30-8:30;

 

Red Fox Books and Ridge Street Coffee Company will be open until midnight; New York Wine Cork until midnight; Davidson Brothers and Fiddleheads until closing.

American Red Cross- Saratoga Chapter

 

Theme: Windows on the Adirondacks

 

Artwork is open to individuals interpretation- past, present, future, art, history

Windows can be painted, etched, decoupage, stained glass, etc.

 

Deadlines: Windows need to be completed and returned to Red Cross no later than Friday, February 15, 2008. They will be displayed at various businesses throughout Glens Falls and the bidding process will begin.

 

Unveiling to be held at the Queensbury Hotel

March 13, 11am-2pm

in conjunction with the
